Teacher will encourage students to get as creative as they can with coloring Camilla and be sure to ask for help if they need to refer back to some of the flash cards to remember what happened in the story.ħ. The students can color Camilla however they would like to and then write a few sentences about some causes and effects that happened in the story. Teacher will provide index cards with causes and effects on them and ask the students to match them to one another. Teacher will explain to the students that cause and effect relationships happen all the time in real life but that they can be hinted at in a story based on certain words such as because, since, this is why, then, so, if and therefore. Cause is the reason something happened and effect is the result or what happened. Teacher will start by explaining to the students what cause and effect mean. In A Bad Case of Stripes, Camilla Cream struggles with liking something different than everyone else and she does whatever it takes to fit in just to realize that liking something different than everyone else is what makes her special and unique.
